Largest Ever Gathering of Spiritual Directors
in Southern California, USA

Costa Mesa, CA, March 1, 2006 - More than five hundred spiritual directors from around the world and across faith traditions will gather in Southern California, April 19-23, 2006 for Spiritual Directors International Conference. Jeremy Taylor, founding member of the Association for the Study of Dreams, will be the keynote speaker for this educational event open to anyone interested in the ministry of spiritual direction.

Spiritual direction is the process of accompanying people on a spiritual journey. It is a contemplative practice common to all faith traditions with the director called variously companion, mentor, teacher, witness or guide. A spiritual director is one who by charism and community is called to accompany others on their spiritual journey. The director is a person formed by faith and marked by wisdom. In these challenging times, when many have left the shelter of institutional religion, more and more people are called to this process, as companion and searcher, both individually and in groups.

Spiritual Directors International is a multi-faith learning community that provides support for and communication among spiritual directors, interns, clergy, laity, chaplains, hospice workers and others involved in spiritual care. In its structure and practice, Spiritual Directors International is a contemplative, mindful organization providing a public face for the ministry of spiritual direction while inviting people to their own innate holiness.  In addition to hosting educational events, Spiritual Directors International publishes Presence journal, Connections newsletter, Guidelines for Ethical Conduct in Spiritual Direction, and other resources that foster the global ministry of spiritual direction.
