More than one hundred workshop proposals were submitted for the Spiritual
Directors International 2009 Conference, April 17-21, 2009 in Houston, Texas,
USA. If you submitted a proposal, thank you for the breadth and depth of your
creative spirit that you are willing to share with the global learning
community! We are a very gifted community.
Please pray for the workshop selection committee as they read all the
proposals and discern a balanced conference program, mindful of global geography
of presenters; gender, race, age, spiritual affiliation, and cultural balance;
topic diversity and experience, etc. The theme for 2009 will be the continued
exploration of Being Present. Thank you for your prayers as the committee
discerns 35 workshops. As you can imagine, there will be many excellent
workshops that will not be accepted. We ask your prayers in gratitude for all
the people and their hard work to submit proposals on time, before the April 30
deadline.

10. May reflection
The May reflection is by poet Andrea Potos. This poem won an honorable mention
in the 2007-2008 Presence poetry contest.
MISSING OREGON
I’ve heard
the beauty you love in the world
is a mirror
for what’s already within you.
If this is so,
then show me
the path to the landscape I’ve lost,
give me a map to the river
where white water rushing over boulders and stones
cleanses everything in its flow.
Lead me to the woods,
give me air infused
with wet green,
rain releasing the strength
of cedar,
pine.
During May, look for the mirrors of beauty around you, inviting you to know
yourself and God in new ways. Listen for the longing hearts in those whom you
companion and watch for the maps in their worlds of beauty that will guide them
to reclaim what is missing. God’s beauty and love will be your guide.
Peace be with you,
Liz
